Chief Thomas R. Lonyo has been employed with the Findlay Fire Department since 1991 and has held positions of firefighter, Captain, and Chief. The Chief is responsible for all department operations, and deals directly with financial management, union concerns, employee discipline, and supervision of fire prevention and emergency response activities. He also serves as the Department’s representative for various boards and committees, and communicates directly with the City Administration, City Council, and other political agencies.
Deputy Chief Thomas Jorgensen functions and the Fire Department Training Officer. Deputy Chief Jorgensen has been employed by the Findlay Fire Department since 1981 and previously held the position of Captain. Deputy Chief Jorgensen is charged with ensuring the department meets federal, state, and locally mandated Fire and
EMS training. Deputy Chief Jorgensen is a certified
EMS and Fire Inspector. The Deputy Chief also acts as Safety Officer on large scale incidents.
Three firefighters, James Holmes, Matt Pickett and Eric Habegger each certified by the State of
Ohio as Fire Safety Inspectors, make up the Fire Prevention Bureau. Their duties include building inspections, fire investigations, public fire education, and code enforcement.
Lisa Phillips, functions as an Administrative Assistant to the Chief and oversees such office activities as maintaining personnel files, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and the tracking of the departmental budget. Other duties consist of the ordering of uniforms and supplies for all four locations along with other administrative duties as required. Lisa DeGraaf, the department Receptionist, assists with coordinating departmental tours and truck visits, assisting with department supply ordering and supporting the department Training Officer as required.
