Q: What is the Adopt-A-Tree Program? A: This program is designed to help keep Findlay City streets beautiful and shaded. The Adopt-A-Tree Program is coordinated by the Findlay Shade Tree Commission. Findlay residents may apply to adopt-a-tree to be planted on City right-of-way. All property owners within the City of Findlay are eligible to Adopt-A-Tree for the minimal fee of $20. The commission will work with each applicant to select the most appropriate species for the location.
Q: When is the Adopt-A-Tree Program? A: The annual Adopt-A-Tree information is made available in early spring. Completed applications are generally required around April 1st.
Q: Where can an Adopt-A-Tree be planted? A: The trees are designated for public tree lawns (the area between the street and sidewalk) and public road rights-of-way with the following clearance restrictions:
10 feet from fire hydrants and streetlights
8 feet from curb cuts and street signs
4 feet from underground utility lines
35 feet from the corner curb of street intersections
Q: If my Adopt-A-Tree (or other right-of-way tree has a problem, who should I contact? A: The Public Works Department is available to assess the health of your Adopt-A-Tree or other right-of-way trees.
