Downtown Revitalization Update – August 21

Bump Outs Starting to Take Shape

This week is going to be another busy week for the Downtown Revitalization Project on Main Street with the bump outs starting to take shape. If the weather cooperates, the contractor is planning to start pouring the curbs for the bump outs this week.  They will start at the Lima St. and South Main Street intersection and work their way north. It will be a little hectic around the intersections when the concrete trucks are on site, but that should only be for a couple hours.

Work to Start on the West Side of Main Street

Along with curb work for the bump outs, the contractor will continue with storm line, electrical, and audio installation.  This work on the east side of Main Street will be completed early in the week; the work will then jump to the west side of Main Street, starting at Center Street, and progressing south to Lima St.  Once work starts on the west side of Main Street, it will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Parking on the west side of Main Street will be temporarily closed as work progresses. Signage will be in place to direct downtown visitors to open parking areas on the west side of Main Street.

Temporary Sidewalks

You may have notice that more and more concrete sidewalk being torn out on the east of of Main Street in preparation for new sidewalks.  A temporary stone walkway is being created to maintain access to downtown businesses and buildings. Please contact the city if you see areas where more stone is needed in order to maintain a safe walking environment.
