Play Ball Day - July 26, 2019
Mayor Christina Muryn has issued a proclamation declaring July 26, 2019, as Play Ball Day, in Findlay, and invites all citizens to join in recognizing the importance and influence of the sports of baseball and softball in the City of Findlay.
The City of Findlay in cooperation with Movement Church, Hancock Public Health, Major League Baseball, and U.S. Conference of Mayors hosted a Play Ball event on July 26, 2019, at Miracle Field. The program began with playing Wiffle Ball with Mayor Christina Muryn, followed by a ballpark meal provided by Movement Church, crafts, and the evening ended with a drive-in movie with healthy snacks.
Play Ball is a program of Major League Baseball and the U.S. Conference of Mayors that focuses on the sport of baseball to encourage sustained participation in the sport. From April to September of 2019, with the help of mayors across the country, “Play Ball” Events will be held with the goal of energizing communities and generating support and love for baseball and softball. Mayors engage citizens, families and their respective city departments to organize individual and community “Play Ball” events. These mayoral events not only create a renewed sense of enthusiasm for the game, but also serve as an opportunity to strengthen family and community bonds.
