The east side bump outs have been installed with the new curb and sidewalk. Pedestrians on the east side of Main St. should have a nice walk path going from Lima St. to Lincoln St. and Hardin St. to Center St., and we should have a good portion of the west side poured by the end of this week. With the two days of rain last week, all the curb ramps up to Front St. were not able to be completed, but the crews are pushing hard this week to get the curb and sidewalks installed on the west side from Center St. to the south side of W. Main Cross. By then end of the week, a good walk path should be complete on the west side of Main St. from Center St to the south side of Dorney Plaza. (If you are walking that way, please feel free to stop by Dorney Plaza to see the beautiful renovation that has been recently completed.)
Depending on the schedule of the pouring crew, some of the side streets (only one street at a time) may be temporarily closed to make water line taps for the new irrigation system. Signs will be posted at the intersections to alert vehicular traffic of the closures. Once the waterlines are tapped and backfilled, traffic will be able to get back through. Just like the concrete crews, the electrical and irrigation subcontractors are following close behind to make sure we can start wrapping up sections for final placement of additional sidewalk and landscaping.
The concrete crews will be mainly working on the west side of Main St. from Main Cross to Lincoln St. This will include installing the remaining drainage, removing damaged sidewalk, and pouring the new curb ramps. Also, once the subcontractors are finished with installing their work on the north side of Main Cross, the contractor will be placing topsoil so it has time to settle before the new landscaping is placed.
