Vehicle Pursuit Ending in a Crash

Brief Description: 

An officer with Findlay Police Department made a traffic stop in the 2500 block of N. Main St. near Ellis Ave. The vehicle initially stopped but took off after the Officer made initial contact.

A pursuit ensued going west on Ellis Ave. The vehicle then drove on several streets in this neighborhood and eventually went north on Greenacre Dr. At the deadend of Greenacre Dr. the vehicle began driving through the yards at the Poplar Court Apartment complex, 2901 Greenacre Dr., and the yards and parking lot of The Heritage Nursing Home, 2824 Greenacre Dr. The suspect made it back onto Greenacre Dr. and then turned east on W. Bigelow Ave. When the vehicle got to the intersection of W. Bigelow Ave and N. Main St., the driver lost control and spun around. The vehicle then began driving back to the west on W. Bigelow Ave. and continued westbound out of the City of Findlay corporation limits. The vehicle continued west on CR 95 (W. Bigelow Ave.) at speeds reaching 100 mph. The vehicle turned north on CR 135 and then lost control near the intersection of TR 96 where the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a culvert in the ditch.

The vehicle was occupied by the driver and two other passengers. The driver was identified as Joey O’Neal Jackson, and he was arrested and incarcerated for Fleeing & Eluding (F3), Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated, Driving Under Suspension, and Improper Display. Joey was also found to have two outstanding warrants for his arrest, one from Hancock County and one from Wood County.

A female passenger was also arrested for being in possession of Drug Paraphernalia and later released on an OR Bond. The third passenger was released from the scene with no charges.

The length of the pursuit was approximately 7.2 miles and lasted about 15 minutes. Assisting the Findlay Police Department were the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, and Mac & Bob’s Towing.

Current Status: Suspect incarcerated
