Train Accident

Type of Incident:Male struck and killed by a train

Date & Time of Incident: August 26, 2018 @ 1:09 a.m.

Location of Incident: 300 block of E. Main Cross St.

Brief Description: 

Findlay Police were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Main Cross St. on the CSX Railroad tracks on August 26 @ 1:09 a.m.  Officer were advised that a male had been struck by a train.  Officers arrived and found that a male had been lying partially on the railroad tracks in that area.  A southbound CSX train was not able to stop and struck the male.  The train was eventually able to stop just south of E. Sandusky St.  Neither of the two CSX employees on the train were injured.

The male was declared deceased at 0122 hrs by Hanco EMS personnel.  The Hancock County Coroner, Dr. Fox, was contacted and he ordered an autopsy.

The male was identified as 46 year old Wayne R. Bell of Findlay.  His family was notified of his death.  It is unknown at this time why he was on the tracks.  The incident is currently still being investigated.
