The Neighborhood Enhancement and Abatement Team (N.E.A.T.) was formed in 2004 to serve as an umbrella department to handle all forms of neighborhood complaints and issues such as abandoned vehicles, tall grass, trash, sidewalk nuisances, right of way issues, dilapidated structures, junk on premises, minor maintenance and similar issues. Each issue that is submitted to NEAT is investigated, photographed and cataloged. Property owners are notified via U.S. Mail and/or personal visits from NEAT personnel.
If property owners fail to handle the issues, the NEAT staff will have the matter abated and then invoice the property owner for the expenses incurred in the abatement. When invoices are unpaid, the charges are assessed to the property taxes and remain with the property.
As always, the Neighborhood Enhancement and Abatement Team stands ready and willing to assist in whatever needs are presented from the community. The NEAT staff works diligently with the property owners to achieve compliance.
