Need a Permit?

Many types of construction require a permit including, but not limited to, fences, sheds, decks, signs, new dwellings, change of use, and grading. The Zoning Office will gladly assist in the permit process.  Here are the ways you can apply for a permit:

  • Select the needed permit application from the list below (scroll down), print and complete it and bring it to the Zoning office for approval and payment.
  • OR visit the Zoning office to complete and submit your permit application.

The City of Findlay and Hancock County utilize Wood County Building Inspection for inspection and permitting of multi-family residential and commercial properties. Please visit their site to confirm what requirements may apply to your property. These permits and inspections are in addition to zoning permits that must be received through the City of Findlay Zoning Department.

Complaint about a property?

Common complaints and issues are junk vehicles, high grass, trash, sidewalk nuisances, dilapidated structures, junk on premises, minor maintenance and similar issues. You may Submit a Complaint online or by phone at (419) 424-7108.

Permit Application Forms

   Beginning January 1, 2020:

•  All permit applications for New Builds and Additions (Residential or Commercial/Industrial) must be accompanied with a ‘to scale’ location survey as the site plan. 

•  All Fence and Accessory Structure permit applications must be accompanied with a ‘to scale’ site plan, indicating at least 2 property pins have been located.

•  Permits will be ready for pick-up and payment the next business day after 1:00 pmWe do not call the applicant when the permit is ready.
