The Mayor is the chief conservator of peace according to the Ohio Revised Code. He or she sees that the laws and ordinances of the City are enforced. The Mayor also recommends measures to council for adoption; keeps the council fully advised of the financial condition and future needs of the municipal corporation; prepares and submits to council such reports as are required by that body, and performs such other duties as council determines by ordinance or resolution.
The Mayor is elected to a four-year term. The next Mayoral Election will be held in 2019. The Mayor’s salary is $70,890 / year.
Mayor Lydia Mihalik
Lydia L. Mihalik is the 55th Mayor of Findlay. She assumed office as the first female Mayor of Findlay on January 1, 2012.
Since taking office, Mayor Mihalik has given special attention to issues of flood mitigation, job creation, and improving the way that the City of Findlay delivers service to our residents. She has been a strong proponent of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) which acts as a resource center for those wishing to start a business.
Mayor Mihalik is a 2010 graduate of the Jo Ann Davidson Leadership Institute and a 2010 graduate of the Government Leadership Academy. She currently serves on the Hancock County Red Cross Board of Directors. Mayor Mihalik is a member of the Findlay Noon Rotary Club and Zonta.
In 2012, Mayor Mihalik received the Old Main Award from the University of Findlay Alumni Association, 20 Under 40 Leadership Award, and was named a Leader of Promise by Girl Scouts of America, Western Ohio. She was also named an honorary member of the Korean War Veterans Association #172.
Prior to being elected Mayor, she was the Grant Administrator for the Hancock Regional Planning Commission (HRPC), a position she held since 2004. She was responsible for generating more than $19 Million in grant revenue for local governments including, but not limited, to the City of Findlay and Hancock County.
Mayor Mihalik’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Findlay in 2002.
Mayor Mihalik is not only a true community leader but also a loving wife and mother. She and her husband Drew have three children, Joseph, Elizabeth and Delaney.
