Mayor Lydia Mihalik has issued a proclamation declaring April 28, 2017, as Arbor Day in Findlay, Ohio, and urges all citizens to support efforts to protect and nurture our trees and urban forest not just for the beauty they provide but for the benefits they give our residents and community.
Findlay’s Arbor Day Celebration will be held at Jacobs Primary School on Monday, May 8, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. Mayor Lydia Mihalik will present a proclamation concerning the importance of trees in our community and the history of Arbor Day. The Shade Tree Commission will present a Tri-color Beech tree for the students of the “Landscaping Leadership Team” to plant at the ceremony in front of the school. Jacobs Primary School is a “Leader in Me” school and the student team and staff will synergize with employees from Cooper Tire & Rubber Company to “spruce up” the landscaping around Jacobs Primary School. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend this free activity.
Other Findlay Shade Tree Commission happenings include:
NeighborWoods Program Set. Twenty-two trees will be planted on April 29th in the areas of West Park and South Ridge Estates in Findlay, Ohio.
Tree City USA Designation Earned. Members of the Findlay Shade Tree Commission will attend the celebration to receive this designation on May 3, 2017, in Lakeside, Ohio.
